It was my profound pleasure to cover the Glenn Hughes Melbourne show tonight… Thats right time travelers, Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Trapeze et al….

This man is the Voice of Rock and Roll and we witnessed a virtuoso performance in control and pitch.

Bravo Sir, I was honored to shoot the gig, and even more so to meet you later….

Hey there fans,

I love this photo of the brilliant Suze DeMarci in action with Dave Leslie in the very foggy background.

Dead set, I wanted to murder the fog machine on the night but I have worked through it and am very happy with the results.

Its was great to meet the band backstage again and get a photo autographed.. Thanks Suze,

Hope all you fans will get out there and support these guys.. they rock and work hard at it!

Plenty of photos in the link under this photo… cheers g

Suze DeMarchi can rock it with the best of them ….. The Baby Animals are back and tonight they rocked the Prince of Wales like “back in the day”!

The new line up is
Suze DeMarchi on vocals and guitar,
Dave Leslie lead guitar,
Matt Cornell Bass,
Mick Skelton Drums.

Fantastic gig, they play again on the 8th and then The Shoppingtown Hotel on the 9th… catch them wherever you can.. its well worth it.

Check out their new releases, band info and other stuff on the ban’s website – http://www.thebabyanimals.com/

Thanks for the gig guys… welcome back to Melbourne and stay cool.

Photographing Daddy’s Little Girl.

DLG 2, originally uploaded by gavin.warren.

A quick stop in at the “Espy” tonight on the way home from work saw “Daddy’s Little Girl” rocking the opening act…

Thanks to Scott for the heads up on this band… it was a real treat to see youthful enthusiasm onstage and a brilliant live version of Supernaut’s “I Like It Both Ways” … I bet that Cynthia here wasn’t even born when that song ‘came out’ so to speak.

The first time I have been to the Espy… for a long time… nice.

Check out DLG’s myspace page here….

James Reyne

Filed under: Rock & Roll — texxas @ 6:51 am

James Reyne, originally uploaded by gavin.warren.

I really did have a brilliant day on the 24th of Feb. James Reyne, frontman of the one of the Australian iconic pub rock bands of the 80’s … Australian Crawl was in the studio.

I grew up going to pubs and listening to the crawl, Hunters & Collectors, Cold Chisel, the Angels, AC-DC, MiSex, Jimmy & the Boys, the Sunnyboys, Split Enz and about a thousand others.

So it was a real treat to have James in the studio and do the 2 minute portrait thing with him.

Thanks James.

Thanks reader. G

I had the pleasure of the company of Jasmine again today in the studio… There is always a fantastic delight to have such a beautiful and photogenic young lady in the spotlights… if only there were more time.

Thanks Jasmine, I look forward to shooting you again soon.

Be sure to catch Jasmine Rae performing when she is in your neck of the woods.

Electric Mary at the HiFi Bar

Filed under: Rock & Roll — texxas @ 6:35 pm

Electric Mary 2, originally uploaded by gavin.warren.

I have posted this pic in black and white because these guys ROCKED the HOUSE old-school.

I have been blown away tonight by the raw energy and spirit of the band, Electric Mary. These guys really took the rock and blasted it through the roof. Superlatives abound…. I was taken back to when I was a young soldier in 1981 on exchange in Germany when we were lucky enough to catch Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow in a venue only a little bit larger than the HiFi Bar. That was raw, energetic and powerful ….. these guys raised the same goose bumps.

Good luck with the new album in America.

Shout out to Richo of Rockhard Entertainment. …. thanks for the VIP Pass to the gig.

Cheers Tex
