Harley Owners Group - Preview of new workshop

Filed under: Uncategorized — texxas @ 7:14 am

The brave members of the Harley Owners Group attended a special preview of the new Peter Stevens workshop facility in A’beckett St, melbourne this morning. I say brave because despite the heavy rain, many showed up on their trusty steeds and in wet weather gear… good on you!

James Murray-Parkes took the group through the facility and explained the workshop structure and layout.

Naturally there was a sausage or two afterward and the odd coffee ….. very odd!

Dallas Frasca

Filed under: Uncategorized — texxas @ 10:46 pm

Had the great opportunity to shoot Dallas Frasca and her Gentleman at the Northcote Social Club on Saturday Night… What a great and powerful performance.

Dallas and Geoff rocked the intimate room with some great blues roots music.   For a two piece outfit, they have a fantastic sound and filled the place with some hard rockin’ music.  The knowledgeable and loyal crowd were well versed in the bands “join in” pieces.  ”Take a look… Take a F***** look!”"   Reminded me of live gigs at Bombay Rock with the “Angels” … “Am I ever going to see your face again? ” No Way… well you know the rest!… oh how I wish I had my cameras back in hose days… *drifts off to nostalgia-land*.

Here are some pics of the night…  Enjoy.

Mike Compton is one of the leading mandolin players in the United States. Although also a talented multi instrumentalist, it is his magic mandolin playing that has him nominated for the highest awards in the business at the IBMA Mandolinist Of The Year in 2001 and 2002; at the 2002 Grammy’s TV broadcast he was the mandolinist on with the Soggy Bottom Boys; his playing is featured in much of the “0 Brother” soundtrack and Down From The Mountain CD and tour; and who the New York Times called a “new bluegrass instrumental hero” He is the leading interpreter of the great Bill Monroe’s mandolin style, a composer of traditional mandolin tunes and a leading teacher of Monroe-style mandolin at camps around the world.

I went to a Lifeline benefit gig last night… The Basics were the headline act.. great little 3 piece band with ARIA award winner Wally de Backer on drums.  They have a tight sound and obviously had a lot of fun up on stage… click that linkage and check out their myspace page.  Anya (Thanks for the e-mail)  organized the gig and the profits go to a very worthy cause…  The Northcote Social Club was the venue and as you can see from the attached pix.. it was a hot and sweaty night..
